Low Expectations

The avalanche hazard was low and so were our expectations of finding deep powder. Total snow amounts at treeline at the Microwave were between 50-60cm, which is not enough to cover up all the rocks and stumps yet. We found a layer of surface hoar that has very recently been buried by a couple centimeters of snow. In wind affected areas this surface hoar has likely been broken down/blown away, but in sheltered spots it may become a problem when we see more snow load on it.
