The fact that our plans for the day were changed because of landslides, not avalanches, should make a strong comment on the current state of the snowpack. Up on forbidden plateau there is 10-40 cm of breakable crust topped moist snow. This translates into careful snowshoeing off trail as to not catch your toes on the crust, and being extremely appreciative of the teeth underfoot when walking anywhere someone has already travelled. We did note that there is some surface hoar growing on top of the crust, which we will keep in mind when the next snowfall arrives.
