With rapid warming forecasted for the afternoon, our day started and ended early. Compression test results top of west chutes produced repeated failure ~50cm down at elbow 5. Significant cornice formation and cross loading observed on N and E aspects.

Snow conditions were: Wind affected, Powder. Weather conditions were: Warm, Sunny. We rode: Dense trees, Steep slopes, Open trees. We avoided: Alpine slopes, Sunny slopes, Convex slopes. Riding quality was good.

Avalache Conditions: Rapid temperature rise to near zero degrees or wet surface snow. 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifitng, or rain in the last 48 hours.

Avalanche

50cm deep slab released upon side hill cut of far west chute. Slab travelled down nearly the entire length of the slide path. Significant wind loading was observed.
