Lots of whumphs and shooting cracks caused us to go to plan B. We rode tighter trees and stayed away from any steep unsupported slopes as we observed many failures on nearly every unsupported micro feature on the way up. Hand shears were popping before the cut was fully made. Many early season hazards exist below 1800. Coverage was pretty good above that. Trees, stumps, rocks and airy voids all gave us problems today.
Winds were mostly on the upper end of moderate. Gusts up to 40-45km/h came through. Exposed SW aspects were scoured. Treed SW aspects saw wind press affecting riding quality. Precip tapered off as we set in the track.
Top 40 cm was very upside down with 10 cm of 4F sitting on 20-30 Fist snow. This caused the snow to be very grabby. Variable snow (5-40cm) depth on Dec 4 crust. Significant wind transport observed throughout the day. Did not poke down below the Dec 4 crust
