Went for a Long Hike

Went for a hike looking for snow. Found some snow once above 1500m. The crust on the southerly aspect was soft enough to kick steps but mostly supportive. I got up to 1700m without snowshoes and a bit of post-holeing. Good to see the snow was dry below the multiple crusts and set up solid. (Or at least the top one metre I checked.) I think there's alright skiing above 1700m, it's just hiking those skis up - and then down that's the hitch 😄
