Kakwa Testing 1, 2, 3...

It's our first time posting a MIN from INSIDE Kakwa! Today felt like April as we rode in the Walker Creek FSR to Kakwa Lake. The trail is largely in good condition, but it was hard in the shade and soft wet mush in the sun. We had to find creative solutions to keep the sleds cool while pulling in our overnight stuff as well as the tools and parts to work on the weather station. We had clear skies and great views from the road and could see numerous loose wet avalanches up to size 2 on southerly slopes in the alpine. There were also a few slab avalanches triggered by the warmth on these slopes that we suspect ran on the January facet layer.
