Quick Observation
A keenness to stretch the legs and see what was happening in the snowpack had us out at Dolomite Shoulder for a wander. Travel conditions below treeline could do with a little work, with an unsupportive crust if brave enough to stray off the skin track. We observed numerous avalanches on all aspects, likely stemming from the natural avalanche cycle over the last few days. This included a sz 3 on the north-east aspect slopes from dolomite shoulder, which had propagated approximately 600m around many terrain features with an average 40-50cm crown. Both basal and arctic facets were still observed within the snowpack, with little to no obvious healing of these observed at treeline or in the alpine. A thin wind slab existed in the alpine, which caused widespread whumpfing. Slightly sporty ski out, but the views and company were fantastic!
