Taiya peak

Skied across Bryant lake over a perfect overnight freeze. A few recent point release wet slides off the south slopes. From the col, we first traversed on west side then over the ridge to gain access to the glacier. The NW facing slope on the traverse were in the shade and stayed cool all day & had about 10 cm of dry snow over a supportive crust. Travel across the glacier was straightforward with about 10 cm ski penetration on dry snow. Very few visible crevasses easily avoidable. From the summit ridge, we decided to bootpack around a rock outcrop and regained the ridge to the final summit slope. A few shallow & icy sections just below the ridge. Ski down was good on about 5 cm dry powder over supportive crust. Once off the glacier, we lucked out on timing and had a great corn ski run back to the lake. Skateskied across the lake on still supportive crust. One new size 1 avalanche off Big Kahuna looked to have resulted from cornice failure from above. Ski out was also good on 3 cm corn snow over hard packed access trail.
