Skiing from Hector South Ridge alpine down benched terrain into SW facing draining we triggered a large settlement over a convex roll and it propagated roughly 60m wide around 50cm deep. Worryingly it remote triggered a much larger 150m x 100m long 50cm deep slide about 100m away. The whoompf travelled through lower angle 25-30° slope which remained unmoved and then peeled away anything over 35°. It wasn't too surprising to see it cut out on that roll but in retrospect I got too comfortable with the quality lower angled skiing and wanted a little more angle. We had the odd settlement in very low angle terrain but hadn't seen anything propagating or moving. This slid on a very firm crust 5-10cm off the ground. Appeared to be a combination of temp/wind crust over facets. I'd guess the November rain crust possibly. The slab cut out in two 20-30cm thick slabs that broke up but held sizable blocks.
