Avalanche Information
Main shot through S Tubes. I dropped first and tip-toed through the skier's left ramp. Main entrance looked a little spooky and perhaps thin. Snow quality was great, considering it's May 2026. I knew sluffing was going to be an issue and planned to manage accordingly. About 150' from the start zone I knew snow was moving very fast behind me, so I cut hard skier's right to avoid it. Somewhat surpisingly, as I pulled into a safe zone and stopped, my sluff grew into a relatively sizable avalanche and flushed out all new snow in the path. Again, sluff management was planned for and executed. The speed and ferocity was not quite expected though. Might have pulled out a soft slab/ wind slab as well somewhere on a slightly more E facing wall, but was hard to tell. Likely failed on a variable crust interface between the new snow and existing snowpack.
