Quick report
Toured up Incline Peak this morning. Clearly rained most of last night and then refroze. The new storm snow was no longer soft or wet, rather it was supportive and sintered together. The surface 1/2-1inch was chalky and in some areas crust-like. Near the summit, there was still wind transport going on and evidence of minor wind slab formation Skinned south west along the ridge and dropped a cornice the size of a small car on the east face. Just a couple steps along the snow in my boots was required to cause the cornice fail, really not that much effort or force. Nothing propagated from the impact. While skinning along the ridge, there was significant rime and scouring on the W face of the ridge and obvious wind loading and cornice growth over the SE face. Given the lack of instabilities and evidence of a storm slab supportive enough to handle a significant cornice drop. I skied down through the middle of the northeast bowl and found pinwheels that looked to have formed yesterday on the skier's right edge of the northeast bowl on my exit.
