Quick report
We toured up the south face of castle peak hoping to ski South Coulior. The snow is very firm (I grew up on the east coast) and it’s not really filled in yet. We traversed the south face over to andesite, we found large, widespread surface hoar around castle pass and all over Andesite, including the summit. We left the area around 1pm, the surface hoar showed no signs of melting despite being in fairly direct sun. With tomorrow nights storm this could become a problematic layer.
