Quick report

Sunny warm weather made this February day feel like April. The snow has clearly been through several melt-freeze cycles on sunny slopes over the last several days. Even though temperatures remained mostly above freezing last night, we found frozen and breakable crusts on northerly aspects with softer snow below them. On the sunny E-SE-S-SW aspects last night's melt-freeze crust had almost completely melted by 11 am. The wet surface snow had become soft and slushy, but the slopes remained supportable until at least mid-day when we departed the area. We ski-cut several steep slopes with wet snow on them, and only caused small 1-2 inch-deep sluffs of wet snow. We did not see any larger wet snow instabilities.
