Evaro Bowl

Today we went through terrain above Snowbowl to look at the distribution of the upper elevation persistent weak layer problem. In Jenny Bowl on sun affected slopes, we saw new snow forming small wind slabs on top of crusts. We kicked a few small start zones and did not get anything to propagate beyond directly below us. On the exit, we dug a quick pit on a sun affected west slope and found buried surface hoar, but it is much smaller and less reactive than on sheltered or north facing slopes.

North facing terrain is downright spooky right now. We had consistent full propagation on extended column tests on the 3-5th tap from the wrist. This was enough to keep us off north facing terrain, even low angle slopes as there were no good options to travel without overhead hazard and a fear of remote triggering avalanches. 

No obvious signs of instability aside from snowpit results. Very limited cracking but I do not want the observation to show up as blue with no signs of instability.
