Quick report
Sean and I took advantage of the favorable conditions to check out the SW Ridge of Red. At ~5600 feet on the SW aspect we found about 6 inches of unconsolidated snow on top of a boot supportable crust. This was pretty much consistent across the whole SW ridge route after clearing the treeline. Coverage was good for the most part but there were some rocks sticking out and also barely covered by snow. On our descent at 11am, wind we noticed on our ascent had affected the surface of the snow and we noticed a few small rollerballs. We sent a few (very) small sluffs down as well, but they didn’t pick up more snow as they travelled and only went ~10 feet. The sun had been peaking in and out of the clouds throughout the morning but temperatures felt pretty consistent. There was a cornice that had formed on the Northern side of the summit which we steered well clear of.
