Quick Observation
Skied the backside of Gem Lake. Ski conditions were amazing. Deep albeit slightly heavy pow with maybe 20cm of fresh from the recent storm. Triggered a couple of small slabs in wind affected areas in steep and convex terrain. Size 0.5 max. Nothing that we observed was really big enough to wipe someone off their feet but these slabs might have gotten bigger with the afternoon snow and could be bigger in isolated pockets/above unsupported features. Crown depth was 5-10 cm, 5 ish m wide, and ran 5 m tops. Triggered while skiing so didn’t investigate further. First slide was an intentional ski cut at the top and the second was accidental mid way down. Proceed to ski Silverstar without issue after this. Medium strength winds at ridge tops with a few stronger gusts. Sporadic snowfall throughout the day and was snowing s3 at the parking lot around 3:30. Probably 5-7 cm accumulation throughout the day.
