Quick Observation
Great day skiing McGill glades with surprisingly few other parties or tracks. Skin track was in good shape, someone did a nice job of it. Sunny with blue skies until 11:30ish, then got overcast/cloudier as the day went on. Looked dark and grey to the west. Noted a crust forming on S/SE facing open areas around 1700m and above on the uptrack. Thin to a few cms thick at most. No crust on our W facing descent, but the sun was definitely affecting the snow and making it heavier. Would not have wanted to be on the slope much later than our 1pm drop. Still skied great though! Hopefully not the last of it. We also saw the crown of a large avalanche from a N/NW facing alpine bowl below where the Green/Bonney/Smart ridgelines connect. Appeared to have pulled out around ~2400m and ran until at least 1600m.
