Apex south face of secondary
An Amazing day of skiing, its snowed all day. The area has received over 80 cms in the past few days. Today's snow was very loose and dry but the snow from the past few days was more dense and slabby. We skied a little steper terain (35-40) in the trees on the way back in bounds. It was very sluffy with lots of shooting cracks.
Snow conditions were: Deep powder. Weather conditions were: Cold, Stormy, Cloudy. We rode: Mellow slopes, Dense trees, Open trees. We avoided: Alpine slopes, Steep slopes, Convex slopes. Riding quality was amazing.
Avalache Conditions: 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifitng, or rain in the last 48 hours. Slab avalanches today or yesterday. Whumpfing or drum-like sounds or shooting cracks.
There was a size 1 today on secondary. The slab that released was only 20 ish meters wide but there was a crack the propagated about 100m, about 30cm wide. Avalanche was either natural or skier remote from about 100m. The slope it was on was not more the 30 degrees, but it was on a small rocky convex feature.
