Nicks

A shallow snowpack (~3') with no wind effect or signs of instability was found up to 4300'.  Pole probing along the route showed a mostly right-side-up upper and mid snowpack.  Snow pit results produced no propagation and fair structure, with small to moderate-sized rounding facets near the ground.   Multiple glide cracks were present around 3000' on the buttresses.  

Found the snow height sensor on the Nicks Snotel to currently be accurate within 10 cms.

No signs of instability were present

The snowpack was fairly consistently 2 1/2-3 feet deep from the highway to ~4300' just above the snotel were we turned around.  The snow surface had no wind affect along our entire route with 10-20cms of ski penetration.  At  2700' on a NE aspect snow pit results produced ECTN24 down 65 cms + ECTX.  Height of snow was 110 cms with fair strength and structure.  Snowpack was right side up except for the bottom 5 cms that consisted of 2-3mm rounding facets.

At 4300'  on a NW aspect snow pit results  produced ECTN16 down 35cms repeated 2x. Height of snow was 105 cms.  Strength and structure were fair in this pit as well, with a right side up snowpack present except for bottom 5-10 cms that consisted of 2 mm rounding facets.
