Quick report

Skinned from Castle Lake Rd gate up to a ridgeline at 5600ft. Descended on a NW aspect. Weather: Mostly overcast with above freezing temps. Sun began to poke through towards the south around midday. Calm winds in areas sheltered by trees. Gusty southerly winds closer to the more exposed ridge. Snowpack: Snow at lower elevations was saturated, heavy, and a little crusty. Rain runnels were observed. Tree bombs were coming down frequently, creating firmer snow in the areas with dense trees. Near the ridge, the snow was deep and soft. The snow was starting to get heavier due to rising temps, reducing the amount of snow available for wind transport. No red flags were observed.
