Quick report

Went into the storm to see how it was affecting the snowpack and skiing conditions. We noticed only trace amounts of snow on top of melt freeze crust until 3100' which actually made for fun edgeable spring skiing on the down. Above 3100' both the structure of the snow and the accumulation of the storm changed with 3'' of moist powder over a now breakable crust overlying facets. Our pit at 3600' on a NE aspect gave us a closer look at this structure with fist hard facets underlying the thin crust resulting in non propagating results on an ECT and CT. There were several facet slab combos in the pit but none produced any test results. The skiing on the upper elevations was quite fun however there would be rare grabby moments with the crust underneath. Overall a fun flat light tour with absolutely no wind.

Snowpack

Above 3100' the snowpack became more complex turning from a stout melt freeze crust to a snow pack with many layers. A pit @3600' on a NE aspect with a 90cm snowpack height had many changes in density notably a thin crust underneath the new snow with a 10 cm layer of fist hard facets underneath. We got CT12 SC 15cm↓ and ECTN10 on this layer but notably no propagation. There were several more steps in density in this pit but notably no results.
