Quick report

Cracking
specific
Collapsing
widespread

Significant cracking and collapsing while skinning to a pit location at roughly 4675'. Cracks observed running between trees downhill adjacent to the skin track. Hollow sounding snowpack in most places. Difficult to differentiate between windslabs, ice, soft drifted snow and a very slick supportive crust layer until you were on it. Dug a small pit at 4675' far lookers right of the snowfields 130cm deep to the ground in that area. Snowpack was approximately composed of a 10cm light density windslab on a 15 cm thick ice crust on a 55cm thick very consolidated ice crust which sat on faceted snow to the ground. In a quick CT the column failed at ct6 20cm down Second failure at ct 14 to 30cm And a failure to the ground at ct 27

Avalanche

Crown line observed in gully 6 and south snowfields. There was also a crown still visible in Main, likely from the late Dec slide.
