Quick report

Stout crust on the south aspects able to support skier’s weight. However, the new 6-8” of heavy snow did not bond with the crust at all and both skiing and skinning caused the fresh snow to slough off the crust. The fresh snow did not consolidate into a slab and there was no cracking, natural roller balls, tree bombs, or apparent wind effect. While we couldn’t see the bigger face above the lake, we didn’t notice any obvious crowns off Elk Mountain or on Repeater Ridge. Right around freezing with little snow and no wind. The trail is getting sporty. Down low there’s a few spots of brown pow on the trail mixed with downed trees and globbing requiring several skin wax applications. .
