The day was warm and cloudy with light snow in the morning. Overall the ice provided good sticks but had sections with a sun crust/lens. We did not climb to the tippy top as the ice thinned out and rocks were exposed under the lens. We decided to drive through Settlers Road and it took 3 hours through the Ravenshead FSR. If you choose this option, bring a charged (oops!) radio, or a friend that has a radio, with Resource Road Channel 8 and 3 programmed. There are active mining and logging trucks along these roads. The Palliser FSR was not plowed, so best to stick to the Ravenshead or go through Canal Flats.
