Scoping Newman Faulkner.
2-5cm of snow from the trail head to the meadow below beehive wall. ~30cm in the beehive meadow. Still too rocky to skin here. At 1500m snowpack was 70cm of fully refrozen ice to the ground and 10cm of fresh fluff.
We decided to climb up bruggers gully until we encountered wind affect. Boot penetration to knee approx. No wind affect was encountered but the snow is not continuous just above the start of the Newman Faulkner route. Skied from there in fluffy boot top pow that sluffed but wasn't slabby. Great turns.
Pictures of the bottom of Newman Faulkner included.
Hardly any snow at all on south aspects.
