~10cm of new snow on the trail up Asulkan ck. Trail breaking became heavy from the mouse trap onward with 30-40cm ski pen but was still dry in the morning. By noon the storm snow turned moist below 1600m on the easterly aspects, good pow skiing above. No cracking or whumphing observed on the way up but was able to trigger the 35cm storm slab on steep rolls and gullies on the way down. Sluffing in steep terrain becoming more of a concern where the snow turned moist as it entrained denser snow becoming more like size 1 - 1.5 avalanches.
Toe of debris began 80-100m above the creek in the Mouse Trap on the Saphire Col side. Debris had about ~20-30cm of snow on it, flowed down the trough just to the south of the Triangle Moraine and buried the old track. Low cloud ceiling and stormy weather today did not allow for any good photos or a good view of the whole thing but knowing the area, a sizeable avalanche had occured, size 3-3.5 is from the Asulkan glacier from below Mt Jupiter is my guess.
