Upper Burnt

Today in the upper burnt riding area we had several signs of instability jump out at us. We witnessed a few small slides on our way in. These were clear signs for us to avoid the wind loaded alpine terrain. The day was a warm (-3) stormy day with light to moderate winds blowing in from the north east with stronger winds in the alpine. We dug our pit on a North facing aspect on a 35 degree incline. For the most part our snowpack is right side up with a few layers of concern the facet crust layer is sitting down roughly a meter down and reacting in the hard range (CTH21-23 RP) on facets 3-4mm. Higher up in our snowpack we have 2 storm layers that will need some time to bond. Our first layer is down 15cm reacting in the easy range at (CTE 4-6 Progressive Compression) we had another layer down 30cm reacting in the moderate range at (CTM11-14 PC). We received 17cm over the course of the day. There is some great powder to be had but will need some time to settle. Have fun and get after it but make safe choices.
