Today (Jan. 20) our party of 4 witnessed a size 2 avalanche which was remotely triggered by a party skiing near us. There were no involvements and no burials. The slide occurred at 2200m on a SE facing slope near the lower reaches of Dolomite Peak's south ridge. While skinning up from app. 200m away, we saw a party of 2 approaching the slope from above. The fracture started when they were about 10m away from a convex roll that fed into steep, unsupported, rocky terrain. Crown height varied from 10 - 70cm, width estimated at 50m, with a runout of about 100m. The slide ran fast and deposited significant debris over a pre-existing uptrack.
