I got out early today ahead of the heat and found a very supportive go anywhere base. The snow has maintained itself over the week with crusts limited to the south half of the compass. With all the warm air, the basal facets didn’t seem to be getting any worse. In fact, my test showed some structure in the base crust layers that house the basal facets with my test breaking on a thin <1cm layer of small grained facets below the crust that formed on our new snow/old snow interface from our last cycle.
