Quick Observation

Busy day with many, many skiers up Connaught. We witnessed a natural release off Cheops that ran to valley bottom. More details in the avalanche observations tab.

Avalanche Information

While skinning up Connaught Valley we witnessed a natural release off Cheops that ran to valley bottom. It did not reach the skin track on the north side of the valley, though the snow cloud and strong wind completely obscured visibility on the skin track. 9 skiers were on the skin track at the time but no one was caught by the slide. No sign of ski tracks entering the zone. We could not see the initial release or crown line due to limited visibility with wind and snowfall, but estimate it came from roughly 2200m.
