Quick Observation

Deep snow conditions at higher elevations in Manning. No new avalanches seen and insufficient slab properties for the recent storm snow in test results (ECTN). On Dec 30/31 we had a widespread avalanche cycle... is it over for the the Dec 26 surface hoar or will this preserved (and easily seen) layer come back to life again? We skied conservative lines.

Weather

Winds were picking up in the afternoon with the frontal passage and clearing skies.

Snowpack

CTH 30 (BRK) down 63cm on 5mm SH sitting on the Dec 29th MFcr. CTH 25 (SP) down 73cm on 5-10mm SHxr (stepped up to Dec 29th layer mid column) ECTN
