Variable conditions in alpine a lot of faceting where the snownpack was thin, E aspect of the shoulder had a variety of supportive wind crust and places where we could punch through but enough surface faceting to hold an edge while skinning. Skiing on the N side of the shoulder had about 5cm of facets up high and got deeper as we descended and the crust was encountered occasionally.
It looked like at mid elevation of the alpine slope there was a very old crown that was about 100M across and looked like it would have been 70cm+ deep.
