You're Not Supposed To Park Them Like That...

We saw a few wind slabs out of steep north and east facing alpine slopes that looked to be a few days old. No new avalanches though, and some pretty bold highmark slope testing had been done by some riders up a few quite steep features. We dug a quick pit on a northwest facing aspect at treeline and found 370cm of total snow. The bond between the recent storm snow and the old surface seems to be strengthening and only reacted with hard results today (CTH 28 SP down 55 on DF). The main concern now seems to be for wind slabs on lee north and east facing slopes near ridges. The riding today was pretty fun with 20-30 cm of soft powder to play in, the key was avoiding the trees ?.
