Quick report

Traveled around on the ridgelines above Snowbasin today and in other "Backcountry" areas near the resort. Our group was unable to trigger any stubborn windslabs. We covered a lot of ground today and did not see much for intact surface hoar or NSF (Near Surface Facets). I really thought we would find more in sheltered areas but yesterdays wind event most of moved most of them around. This is good looking toward our new storm. We do now have crusts from the wind in most areas around Snowbasin now. The skiing is slowly becoming less than desirable! Thermal belt (fog line) hovered around 6500-7000 ft today.

Photo of very hard windslab Snowbasin Ski Patrol was able to pry out.

Instability Comment

Not much for avalanche problems or types today. We were unable to trigger any windslabs that formed yesterday.
