- <p>We were on 35 to 40 degree slopes that would crack and slough the top 2". Poor bonding here of a light wind slab with little cohesion.</p>
Forecaster note: The snow isn't "talking" a lot, and overall the danger does appear to be moderate. The density of the snow surface is making it more difficult to affect underlying weaknesses, but snow pits reveal reactive, weak faceted layers. With more snow and wind in the forecast, am going to keep rating at considerable in upper elevation, wind loaded terrain. the danger is mostly moderate at sheltered, mid elevations.
Snowpack

- <p>Top layer poorly bonded to old snow and could cause buried weakness later. With warm conditions bonding could improve on this layer.</p> <p>Isolated pockets of depth hoar found with ski pole probe but generally pretty consistent snowpack density. </p>
Variable new snow depth with wind deposition. Surface light winds lab not very cohesive with older snow surface. Constant light sloughing while skiing.
