Saw two different avalanches up Logan Dry Canyon Wednesday afternoon. Dates of occurrence unknown, but both looked to occur many days or a week earlier. Surprised no one reported. Crowns highlighted in red in the first photo. Second photo is clean.
Avalanche 1: Goal Post - open area lookers left of the gully. Starting zone ~ 8,300 to 8,700 vertical. Looks to be a 4' crown. The crown runs mostly vertical up against the trees on the far left of the big open area. And there is another crown a few hundred feet vertical higher in the last open area before the ridge.
Avalanche 2: Logan Peak Diamond west (looker's right) part that dumps into the prominent gully. This crown looks to be about 2' deep. Starting zone between 9300 and 9400' vertical right where the Logan Peak summer trail traverses across the Logan Peak diamond to gain the west ridge. 500 feet wide maybe? The crown was in three parts. The left and right at 9300'. And the middle part higher at 9400'.
I saw both avalanches seen from pt 8,031 ft just below the Sincline North trail where the trail passes under the Folly before it wraps around the ridge towards Mill Hollow. So not the best view angle nor that close. Lots of other ski tracks in Dry Canyon, surprised no one saw or reported earlier.
Most of the natural avalanche activity in the general area actually occurred earlier in February.... Not at all sure of the timing of these.
