Quick report
Today, we skied north of Cooke City in the wilderness area.
While we were out it was snowing (S-1) with short breaks. As soon as the sun started peaking through it got warm quickly. Overall, it was overcast and snowing most of the time we were out today.
Winds were inreasing towards the evening, as well as the snowfall.
We didn't obsereve any signs of instability today.
Over the past 3 days, it has snowed about a foot. This new snow is bonding well with the old snow, which is a wet crust. Our test result didn't show propagation, but we initiated a crack within the new snow (ECTN13).
In the middle of the new snow, there is a crust likely formed by some rain or very wet snow that is more prominent in lower elevations. We measured snow depths of about 9ft in mid elevations.
