Quick report

Red Flags
Recent Avalanches, Cracking, Collapsing, Poor Snowpack Structure

We dug a pit on a southwest aspect at 9500 feet and did not find the persistent weak layer there. However, nearby avalanche debris and new propagating cracks show the weak layer's clear presence on shady aspects.

Instability Comment

We traveled up a ridge line up to 10k ft and felt multiple whumpfs when the skintrack deviated slightly off the ridge proper towards a northerly aspect. Old avalanche activity was observed on shady aspects nearby.
