Widespread surface hoar in East Butler Fork basin on the south base of Soldier Peak. I expected it to disappear as we gained the ridge but the feathers continued to the summit at 9340'. The sun came out midday and was melting the crystals on the South but even ESE still held them. They were especially large, 5mm+, in the sheltered pockets of the blown in skintrack from the day before. Overall average size was 2-3mm.
Dirt on the skintrack in/out Bulter Fork, felt like a warm day in May.
