Marias Pass- Little Dog
Quick report
My partner and I skinned to the west side of Little Dog peak investigating the conditions in the west bowl. There was a mix of clouds and sun driving through the middle fork corridor and as forecasted more clouds at Marias pass and on the east side. On the approach (summer trail) it started to flurry lightly. The travel was easy and fast on skins to the west bowl on supportable smooth surfaces . Most of the main S face chutes of Little Dog had avalanche debris running down them. To be expected the steep lines in the west bowl were not filled in to our desire. We skinned to the west ridge and decided to leave our skis for a out and back summit hike. The temperatures were pleasant, light winds, but the deteriorating visibility did not inspire confidence to explore more than that. It snowed the entire out and back hike of the west ridge and an inch had accumulated upon return to stashed skis. It started to blow snow as we descended into the woods.
