Quick report
The snow conditions across Huntington Ravine were firm and supportable. Wind-hardened and textured snow surfaces were widespread across the terrain. We had hoped to find good skiing in highly wind-sheltered terrain like narrow gullies. We changed our plans from our original objective due to the highly wind-textured and firm snow surfaces, which reduced ski quality and made the consequences of a fall significant.
No avalanche problem was observed in Huntington. We found the greatest hazard to be traveling on very firm steep slopes with many obstacles still exposed in the runouts and the incredibly variable conditions of the exit on the Huntington Fire Road.

Snowpack
A widespread, hard and wind-textured snow surface was observed across Huntington. Boot penetration was between 0cm and 10cm. There were very isolated areas of softer, but still crusty snow where you could punch through to the top of your boot. While softer, these areas did not show any slab characteristics and lacked a weak layer of concern.
