A skier initiated a whumpf and crack of a hard wind slab near treeline on a 20 degree slope near a rock outcropping (see photo). No other signs of instability were observed.Weather

Over the past two days, west, northwest and north wind has ravaged the mountain. North westerlies hit peak crescendo today, finishing off the wind event
Snowpack
The snowpack was heavily impacted by the wind event, primarily above treeline. Our recent new snow has been eroded down to widespread scabby wind slabs, sastrugi features, icy glaze over exposed terrain, and hard, wind deposited snow in gullies and low angle catchment zones. Near treeline, is a mix of the same type of surfaces. Below treeline, things begin to improve. Soft snow can be found in shady/protected terrain; southerly aspects have a breakable sun crust, not nearly as thick as the 12/30 crust.
