Quick report
Our avalanche course observed a wide array of red flags today, including massive wind loading, recent crown lines, and large new aprons of avalanche debris. We enjoyed about two feet of snowfall yesterday and today. Plumes of blowing snow at ridge tops could be seen all the way from my house in Conway. It was amazing to see (from a safe distance) the avalanche debris piles in Hillman’s Highway and below Duchess and Empress. The avalanches that created this recent debris were surely very destructive! I was struck by the lack of large crown lines visible from Hermit Lake. Are the largest avalanches yet to come? I certainly don’t know that answer, but I do know that conditions have made an amazing rebound since March 9th!
