Our snowmobile AIARE 1 course today observed widespread Surface Hoar and buried Surface Hoar as well as basal facets on the East side of Splain’s Gulch. It was actually pretty spooky. We did a few quick and dirty / unofficial CT’s and hand shears and had reactive results. HS 75cm - Surface Grain 3mm SH CT1 down 10-15cm on 3-5mm SH CT6 down 45cm on 2-3mm FC / DH Initial 30x30cm sacrificial column hand shear was easy w failure on basal facet layer.
