Quick Observation

Noted one recent size 2 avalanche from the past 12 hrs in a steep wind effected NE facing bowl at 2400m. We also had several moderate sized whumphs in open areas at tree line. A snow pit at 2300m on a 28 degree NE aspect gave moderate to hard Sudden Collapse results down 45cm below a crust in the sugary facets at the base of the snowpack. Barely enough snow to ski planar features above 1900m.

Avalanche Information

Similar looking avalanche to the skier remote we had 2 days ago, sorry no photo today. Its not impossible that this was also a remote triggered avalanche but we had no notable large settlements while travelling up the ridge.

Snowpack

Wind effect in alpine from N and W winds, surface hoar in sheltered areas, this overlies 40cm of snow that has a density of fist to 1 finger, this sits on a 2cm crust that appears to be faceting and breaking down, below this is 20cm of faceted sugar snow sized 2-4mm to ground.
