Red cone

60cm in most places on north facing trees and on the red cone ridge and 80cm in catchment zones. I expect more on the more loaded parts of the bowl that we did not venture into. On a NE pocket near rocks on along the ridge we heard a loud whumpf. We dug down and found a shallower 50cm among rocks with a thin layer of facets on the ground. The lower parts of red cone bowl had more snow than the ridge and roll overs due to wind. We saw shooting cracks low in the bowl on small roll overs in low angle terrain. Catchment zones held an older layer to make things collapse. Snowpack gave subtle reminders to be weary of terrain and not to get carried away by new snow
