AST 2 Course - Group Observations -Evidence of previous size 2 slab avalanche in Cardiac Bowl area ( 5 days ago) -Surface hoarfrost(10mm) below treeline widespread in open areas, isolated in sheltered treeline and alpine, not as large. - thin suncrust on steep solar asp in Alpine - several small test slopes at different elevations produced no results - test profile at treeline gave no significant shears. - no whumpfing or cracking observed - widespread wind affected surfaces all open areas - light to moderate W winds, but little available for transport - sky became overcast mid afternoon, high temp -2
