We noticed a lot of whoomphing in untracked mellow terrain and stuck to well tracked steeper terrain. Probing the snowpack we found a well settled mid pack sitting on top of 40cm of facets to ground. HS at 2300m was 70 cm. It sounded and felt pretty hollow and we subsequently stuck to skier compacted terrain.
