Burstall Pass

Handful of groups out at Burstall Pass. Variable snow conditions, with punchy crusty snow, wind hammered, or soft wind slab depending on aspect. Found some good turns with 5cm of soft snow over firm mid-pack. 5-10cm facets still present. Whumpfing heard throughout the day, we stuck to <30 deg slopes all day. Notably, immediate leeward side of ridgetop in the alpine had a firm 5cm wind slab over crust that released easily when skinning. Cloudy, windy, and flurries through the morning with occasional periods of sun in the afternoon. Warm temps kept things pleasant, and overall a great day of touring.
