Throughout the storm cycle our party remotely-triggered multiple D1-D2 avalanches in the PPG yurt terrain. These grew in size as the storm progressed and the strong snow became more connected. I triggered most of Surprise Basin one day. Cly point another day. Touchy conditions over the week.

My friend and I were digging on the bench at the top of the Burnline/Girlfriend runs at the PPG yurt. We were looking to investigate the sensitivity of the Jan 3rd rain crust, as we'd experienced many remote-triggered avalanches and widespread collapsing and cracking on this layer. As I was finishing up excavation of the pit, we experienced a large rumbling collapse under our feet. We heard the collapse rumble up the hill, where a D2 avalanche released hundreds of feet away from our location. The avalanche took out some dead trees and branches as it came down. The crown line varied in thickness from 18" to 6' depending on wind-loading. It propagated across the entire face wast face of Cly point. The light was too flat for any meaningful pictures.
